About
For more than 35 years, Peter V. Arcese, Esq., has advised high-net-worth individuals, families, authors, and artists on the tax dimensions of estate planning, wealth transfer, business succession, charitable giving, and trust administration. He holds an LL.M in Taxation from the New York University School of Law.
Peter's practice encompasses estate and trust planning and administration, cross-border estate planning, nonprofit formation and compliance, and philanthropic planning. He has particular expertise in estate and succession planning for art collections, intellectual property, and artist-endowed foundations, helping creators and collectors protect their work and their legacies.
Throughout his career, Peter has collaborated with attorneys across practice areas, including matrimonial, real estate, business, intellectual property, and elder law, serving as counsel, co-counsel, and consultant on the tax-related aspects of their matters. This cross-disciplinary work has encompassed identifying tax exposure, spotting issues, and developing comprehensive tax strategies.
Peter is a certified mediator and former co-chair of the American Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section Mediation Committee (2011 to 2015), with three published articles in ABA journals. He is an active member of the NYSBA Trusts and Estates Law Section, serving on its charitable planning committee and presenting as a CLE panelist, and a member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP).
He is also an adjunct assistant professor at the NYU School of Professional Studies, where he teaches courses on classic and contemporary world literature and received the Award for Teaching Excellence.
